The misconception that one always has to choose between science and religion is incorrect. Of course, some religious beliefs explicitly contradict science (e.g., the belief that the world and all life on it was created in six literal days); however, most religious groups have no conflict with the theory of evolution or other scientific findings. In fact, many religious people, including theologians, feel that a deeper understanding of nature actually enriches their faith. Moreover, in the scientific community there are thousands of scientists who are devoutly religious and also accept evolution.

it’s far more impressive to discover a God who brings galaxies and planets and gorillas and paramecia into existence by simply letting physical laws “set in stone” from the very beginning of time run their course and shape our universe than to think of a “mechanic” God who has to personally wire and configure every species that he sets in motion.

If there’s anything I’ve taken from this horrible Physical Anthropology class, it’s that people really shouldn’t engage in serious discussions about evolution without having taken a college-level class or having read a qualified book on the subject.

Also, I believe that creationism (not the hyper conservative bible belt type) and evolution are not mutually exclusive.
